Visualizing Stars and Emission Nebulas
نویسندگان
چکیده
We describe the star and nebula visualization techniques used to create a 3D volumetric visualization of the Orion Nebula. The nebula’s ionization layer is modeled first as a surface model, derived from infrared and visible light observations. The model is imported into a volume scene graph-based volume visualization system to simulate the nebula’s emissive gases. Stars are rendered using Gaussian spots that are attenuated with distance.

The Colors of the Deep Sky
The term deep sky object is popular among astronomers to describe those faint patches among the stars that can be found only with optical assistance. The equipment needed to take pictures of deep sky objects is within the reach of dedicated amateur astronomers. In such low light levels there strictly is no color, but there is a natural desire to make these images look as they might appear if ou...
متن کاملEvolution of Minerals
marc h 2010 H o ll y li n d em Once upon a time there were no minerals anywhere in the cosmos. No solids of any kind could have formed, much less survived, in the superheated maelstrom following the big bang. It took half a million years before the first atoms—hydrogen, helium and a bit of lithium—emerged from the cauldron of creation. Millions more years passed while gravity coaxed these primo...
متن کاملNebulas: Using Distributed Voluntary Resources to Build Clouds
Current cloud services are deployed on wellprovisioned and centrally controlled infrastructures. However, there are several classes of services for which the current cloud model may not fit well: some do not need strong performance guarantees, the pricing may be too expensive for some, and some may be constrained by the data movement costs to the cloud. To satisfy the requirements of such servi...

The chromospheric emission of solar - type stars in the young open clusters IC 2391 and IC 2602
In this paper we present chromospheric emission levels of the solar-type stars in the young open clusters IC 2391 and IC 2602. High resolution spectroscopic data were obtained for over 50 F, G, and K stars from these clusters over several observing campaigns using the University College London Echelle Spectrograph on the 3.9-m Anglo-Australian Telescope. Unlike older clusters, the majority (28/...
